Michael Douglas Says He Will Beat Cancer

Earlier this month, Michael Douglas revealed that he is battling throat cancer. Now, the Oscar-winning actor is opening up about the fight of his life in the new issue of People.
"I'll beat this," the 65-year-old told the magazine, of the malignant tumor found by doctors.
Douglas, who is married to actress to Catherine Zeta-Jones, talks to the mag about how the cancer diagnosis has affected his family, including their two children, Dylan, 10, and Carys, 7.
The actor is set to under go eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. He is expected to make a full recovery.
"I am very optimistic," Douglas said in a statement.
His new film, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, opens on Sept. 24.

Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera and M.I.A. have all been accused of dissing Lady Gaga -- but Britney Spears refuses to jump on the bandwagon! Even though Gaga, 24, has replaced Spears, 28, as the most-followed celebrity on Twitter, Spears has nothing but admiration for her fellow pop star.

"I'm a big fan of hers," Spears tells the U.K. fashion magazine Pop in a new cover story. Spears even says she'd team up with Gaga for a duet, adding, "Anything's possible!"

We've written before about the reasons why other female pop stars feel threatened by Lady Gaga -- and Britney has more reason than any of them. A few years ago, Spears was exactly where Gaga is now: controversial (for different reasons), breaking album sales records and appearing on the cover of every magazine. And their musical styles are similar enough that Spears was offered Gaga's single "Telephone" first (as revealed by an infamously bad demo that was leaked this year). Take away her costumes, add a couple of kids and a nervous breakdown, and Gaga would look a lot like Spears.

But instead of being bitter, Britney is embracing her competition -- an impressive and surprisingly mature move on her part. Maybe Spears looks at Gaga and sees somebody whom she can uniquely relate to, rather than someone she needs to crush on the Billboard charts. And that's a nice alternative to the needless rivalries that female celebrities are so often dragged into.

A judge on Wednesday ordered Lindsay Lohan to undergo a rigorous outpatient rehab program that will require frequent counseling but will permit the actress to continue working.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox ordered the Mean Girls star to undergo psychotherapy and addiction counseling sessions several times a week until November. He also ordered the 24-year-old to submit to random drug and alcohol testing at least twice a week and to continue living in the Los Angeles area.

Gearing up for one of the biggest night's in television, Jimmy Fallon helped roll out the red carpet at the 62nd Primetime Emmy's Press Preview Day in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday (August 25).
Held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, the 2010 Emmy Awards host was joined at the morning festivities by Television Academy President John Shaffner and Emmy Executive Producer Don Mischer.
Recently giving an update on his hosting preparation, Fallon told press at the "Going the Distance" premiere, "We're getting the final touches on the opening thing that we're doing. It's really fun. I?m at the Nokia Theater all day long now, from now until the Emmys. Just getting ready. It?s a long process, a lot of rehearsals, stuff like that."
Meanwhile, Jimmy also explained why his show band, The Roots,, did'nt mak the trip to LA, as he said, "There's no Roots, sadly. The Roots didn't come with me from New York. Kind of miss them. I think if it?s too much me, it takes away from the fun of the Emmys. My job as a host is to keep moving fast and to let the other people shine, the nominees. Make it a fun night for everybody."

Nick Cannon: Only Mariah Will Confirm or Deny Pregnancy

If Mariah Carey really is pregnant like people are speculating, her hubby Nick Cannon is certainly keeping mum about it. In fact, the America's Got Talent host is telling fans the only way they'll know is if his Grammy-winning wife says so herself.
On his New York radio show, Cannon, 29, addressed the baby bump talk that's started since recent photos of Carey, 40, surfaced. "I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again," Cannon told listeners. "When my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her." 
Of course, this is hardly the first bout of baby-bump rumors for the couple, who wed in 2008 (and have renewed their vows every year since!). In April, Carey's rep confirmed the star was not expecting.
Just a month later, Carey had people talking baby once again when she unexpectedly walked away from a role in a new Tyler Perry movie. This time Carey's camp would neither confirm nor deny the rumors. "I'm not at liberty to discuss her personal life at this time," her spokeswoman said.
Cannon has always been open about his desire to start a family and it seems he's just been waiting for the perfect moment. Back in February he said that one of his biggest life goals is to "have a happy family and have some little Cannons running around."

MTV's 'Teen Mom' Discourages Teen Pregnancy

In the first season of MTV's Teen Mom -- the follow-up to 16 and Pregnant, which focused on four small-town American teens through their pregnancies and giving birth -- the teens go from irresponsible, immature girls to young mothers with quite a bit of responsibility. (One of the teens, Catelynn, gives up her baby, Carly, for adoption.) Now in its second season, Teen Mom continues to do a good job of portraying what these young women are going through as anything but glamorous or effortless.

Teen Mom is a far cry from MTV's other "reality" shows like The Hills and Jersey Shore. There is nothing fake or staged in this show. How does one fake babies crying, broken engagements, domestic disturbances or having doubts about giving your child up for adoption? It can't be faked, and that's what makes this show so pure and effective.

At times it's difficult to watch as moms Farrah, Maci and Amber juggle motherhood and teen life, but that's the beauty of the show. There is no glossing over the fact that these girls do struggle to be good moms while dealing with the rest of life's obstacles -- finances, relationships and finishing their education.

Watching Catelynn and her boyfriend Tyler deal with their decision to give up their daughter Carly for adoption is no piece of cake either. Both teens grew up in poverty and had a rough upbringing, which is why they wanted Carly to have a better life than they have. Both Catelynn and Tyler's parents have been in and out of their lives -- forcing them to grow up quickly -- and give their children little support about their decision to go through with the adoption.

As season 2 continues, though the girls are a bit older, their trials and tribulations have not lessened. After a violent fight with her mother, Farrah and her daughter Sophia are left to live on their own. Farrah has to deal with being a single mom, working and going to culinary school with little support. Maci may have the comfort of still living at home, but after she and her son Bentley's dad Ryan ended their engagement, she's must learn the ins and outs of co-parenting, while she and her ex both embark on new relationships. Amber and her on-again, off-again fiancé Gary are raising their daughter Leah, while trying to get along and make ends meet.

I applaud MTV for creating and airing this vividly accurate program. Teen Mom does a great job of discouraging teen pregnancy. Whether you're an advocate for teen abstinence or safe sex, this program is practically an ad campaign for both. The consequences these girls face for having been sexually active are blunt, detailed and more than obvious. The message it sends is heard loud and clear: "If you play, you may pay!"
