Britney Spears to Make a Real Comeback?

It's her against the music: Britney Spears is officially back in the studio, working on tracks for her next album!
According to MTV, the record is going to be "hard-hitting, up-tempo" and "high-energy." Spears is working with producer Sean Garrett (who's worked with Justin Bieber) and songwriter Darkchild, who writes for Lady Gaga and promises that he'll be writing "an international smash." And Snoop Dogg, who rapped on Katy Perry's summer smash "California Gurls," has begged Britney via Youtube to include him.
So is it time for Britney Spears to make an honest-to-goodness comeback?

She's already well on her way. In the past two years, Spears has been a model citizen: designing a clothing line, sustaining a relationship with ex-agent Jason Trawick, rocking the Circus tour, and playing nice with her fellow pop stars. There's lots of goodwill surrounding Britney Spears these days -- but her public meltdowns and parenting indiscretions are far from forgotten. As much as everybody is rooting for Britney, we're all still a little worried about her.

That's why it's so unfortunate that her ex-security guard has filed a very public lawsuit accusing Spears of child abuse. Nobody thinks the charges are true -- among Spears' defenders are a longtime bodyguard and ex-husband Kevin Federline -- but the story preys on our fears that Britney Spears could be headed for another meltdown.

Bogus lawsuits aside, Spears herself has been doing a fine job of attracting positive attention (or none at all, which is also an improvement over a few years ago!). In a few weeks, we'll get to enjoy her greatest hits on a Britney-themed episode of Glee. Throw in an awesome new album, and we think Britney Spears will be able to stand on her own two feet once again -- or, in her own words, be "stronger than yesterday."
